This might be the team we all expected.

Although I don't think anyone's "catching" Detroit.

Detroit is on another planet in terms of their terribleness.

This period might actually rival whatever Detroit is doing.

I don’t think the Sens are playing badly. Lots of shots, drawing penalties, trying to push back and reasonably playing engaged. They are having trouble with the forecheck and a bit in transition. A few have gone in against them making it look worse than it actually is. Small conciliation I know but I have watched a lot of similar hockey over the last 5 years. Plus the Canucks have blown 3 and 4 goal leads a few times this season.

They're battling the puck a little bit by my eye. Didn't get the big save or two on deflections they needed, either.

But I don't disagree. It's not like they're being wildly outplayed.

Imo, the Sens are where they should be. Hopefully they get the 2nd lottery pick when San Jose misses.

Sens just need some PP luck. They played well in the second.

ya they really controlled game after that horrific first.

Hogberg was pretty solid.

We had a quick whistle on duke, questionable offside goal as well.

They brought Lajoie on the road trip. At a minimum they should put Lajoie in for the game against Edmonton.
Brannstrom has not looked good on too many occasions.

Brannstrom needs more time in the AHL to figure out his defensive game. kid has played less than 75 games on the smaller ice surface....he looks uncomfortable and unsure with his defensive responsibilities. he seems fine offensively, good rushes, good passes, it's on his own side of center that he seems to be struggling mightily.

his game reminds me of Ryan Ellis early in his career

Branstrom needs to be send down asap. His zone exists are appalling bad for someone touted as a great puck moving d-man. Get him some consistent reps in the AHL for the rest of the year and see if he can right the ship.
